m-View Viewer Problems

If you have difficulties viewing the video broadcast then there could be a couple of possibilities.

1. Active X plugin has been blocked.

There are several reasons why this may occur.

Problem: ActiveX downloads are blocked by your Browser security settings.

Solution: You can adjust this setting by navigating in the top menus of the browser to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security Settings -> Custom Level.
Look for "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins". Select Enable or Prompt to allow m-View to run.

Problem: You do not have administrator or power user rights on your PC. This usually happens if you are viewing from within a corporate environment which is controlled by a central IT administrator or department.

Solution: Contact your administrator to get them to install the plugin.

** Both of the problems above can be avoided by using the m-View Standalone Player.

The Standalone Player is a downloadable executable that can be saved and run on any Windows 98 SE and up computer with Internet Explorer 5+ installed. No administration rights are required to run the Standalone Player.

Click on the "Download m-View Standalone Player" link below and save the mViewPlayer.exe file to your computer. Double click on mViewPlayer.exe to lauch the standalone player. Enter the viewer URL address (supplied by the video broadcaster) in the Address field and click on Connect. The live video will begin to play in the left-hand panel.

2. Browsers other than Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

If you are using browsers like Netscape, Opera or are on an Apple Mac then you may just see a page like this.

Unfortunately at this time we are only providing the viewer application for Windows Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. If this is available please use this to view the video broadcast. We are working to provide viewer support for other browsers in the very near future and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If you have Internet Explorer 5.5+ installed on your PC, you can use the m-View Standalone Player outwith an internet browser. See m-View Standalone Player details above.

3. Firewall blocking video

*There's a bit of Tech talk here but stay with us, you'll be fine.*

By default our video streams using a transport system called UDP. Some firewalls don't like this method and will potentially block the picture. When this occurs, the m-View viewer will automatically fallback to another system called TCP/IP. Similarly, if this is blocked, it will automatically fallback to something called HTTP.
HTTP is the system used to transfer webpages over the intenet and is as such, what we call, "firewall friendly".

If after around 30 seconds you only see a black box under "Live video" then the video is being blocked by a firewall. In this instance, contact your IT network administrator regarding allowing the video through.
